I have just finished drying my tears after reading Be Still. What a timely, beautifully written, and thought provoking novel! Everyone should order a copy from Amazon immediately! All of us can relate to either Amanda, whose anger at God meant alienation from her family, or to her father, whose unwavering faith was a constant, or to other characters from varying backgrounds and faiths.
Regardless of your religion, or lack thereof, you will be inspired by Be Still. What an awesome read! This book is a winner! KUDOS to Pamela Young!!

Be Still, And Know That I Am God, Dec 07, 2010
By Peter Younghusband
"Christian Fiction Guru"
As far as I can determine, this is Pamela Young's debut novel. She has done a good job and I look forward to her next work.
In this story, angels start to appear to certain people over the world delivering the same message:
"...do not be afraid. God loves you and has chosen you to deliver a message. He wants you to tell them that the Lord, your God , has loved His people but they have not loved Him. He wants you to tell His people to prepare themselves for their time is at hand."
Emmy-winning television reporter Amanda Fox hears of the reports but, ever the skeptic, dismisses them. But as more and more reports surface from all over the world, she decides to investigate who is really behind these allegations.
It is only when an angel tells a young girl on dialysis that there will be 3 earthquakes, in Korea, New York and Iran that people to take this message seriously, even more so when these earthquakes happen.
Running alongside of this is the discovery of the Wilson comet which is on collision course with earth and it only takes a short time for the connection to be made that if people do not head the message of the angels and of God, then this comet will collide with the earth and destroy all life.
I won't spoil the plot by going any further.
There is a great message here and Young has done a great job is depicting this. However, I feel there were a few plot developments that could have been worked better, namely the outcome and demise of the Phoenix World Alliance at the end of the story; this is not mentioned, the Alliance seem to just disappear, the demise of Reverend John Winters could have been fleshed out more and occurred at the end of the story and not where Young has placed it, and that the outcome of the comet could have been more dramatic in showing the power and working of God.
I also felt the end arrived too soon and was over too quickly. It ended very positively though which was an appropriate way to end this.
Recommended. I look forward to her next novel.

Thought Provoking! Nov 16, 2008

What I look for and enjoy most in a book are well developed characters, scenery, action, and anticipation of what will happen next. This book has it all and I enjoyed it so much. It brings us back to what's really important---and we ALL need to be there!! Especially in these difficult times. When I put the book down, and until the next opportunity for reading came along, I found myself thinking about what I had read. When I finished the book, that process continued, and I'm sure it will for a very long time. This is a wonderful, timely, and thought provoking book. Meaningful on so many levels.

Be Still Sep 24, 2010
By Tracy Roberts In her novel, `Be Still,' author Pamela Young tells a spiritual story about the `end of times' where the world is on a collision course with a comet and messages from God delivered by angels forewarns of the end of life on earth.
The plot of `Be Still' focuses on the protagonist Amanda Fox, a reporter for the World News Network. Amanda Fox is a woman who has walked away from a spiritual life to live a more secular life as a reporter. Life for her is about facts. When Amanda hears of the reports of angel sightings and messages from around the world, she is skeptical and dismisses the reports. As she meets the people who have seen the angels, she is shocked by the accounts as they seem so real, particularly the message from God, "Prepare yourself, for the time is at hand." In Greece, a man reports of his encounter with an angel. In New Orleans, Ellie Lebeaux sees and receives a message from an angel. In Victoria, British Columbia, a little girl foretells events that will take place before the world comes to an end. Amanda becomes a believer when the events the girl forecasts start to come true. In the meantime, there are groups who attempt to discredit the angel sightings and messages, as well as a reverend who seeks to profit from the sightings.
`Be Still' delves into a spiritual theme that focuses on the assertion that Man has turned away from the spiritual teachings of God and has stopped loving God. Man now manipulates and distorts the true word of God for personal benefit and profit. The story, although told from a Christian perspective, is able to successfully encompass all major faiths. Important themes include the disintegration of our morals and values and how Man's greed has shaped society and taken people away from the true meaning of what it means to love God. `Be Still' is also a story of a woman discovering what it means to have faith. Amanda runs the risk of ruining her reputation by broadcasting the stories of the angel sightings and she begins to reflect on her own beliefs and how she has lived her life. Amanda's story is a journey of spiritual growth.
I highly recommend `Be Still' as a story of finding true faith while providing compelling and thought provoking observations on the current state of humanity. Readers will not be able to put the book down until they find out if mankind survives. `Be Still' provides numerous issues to think about regarding the path the world is on and what will become of mankind if we continue to live such violent, selfish, and greedy lives.
